The International Grains Council (IGC) is an intergovernmental organisation concerned with grains trade. It administers the Grains Trade Convention, 1995. The IGC Secretariat, based in London since 1949, also services the Food Aid Committee, established under the Food Aid Convention 1999. Many of IGC's information services are made available to subscribers.

Despite harvesting delays, further increases in northern hemisphere crop estimates in September outweighed deteriorating prospects in some southern hemisphere countries, lifting the world grain production forecast by 5m. tons to a record 1,754m. The past month’s global financial upheavals sparked renewed volatility in grain markets but export prices mostly retreated in the face of the generally favourable outlook for 2008 supplies, particularly for wheat.
